Trigger (ZZZ) Overview

Trigger (ZZZ) is one of the Electric characters with role. Trigger (ZZZ) is one of the S Rank characters in Zenless Zone Zero.

Trigger Build (ZZZ) is included in this guide, you can jump to Trigger Build (ZZZ) Here.

Trigger (ZZZ) Mechanism

Sniper Stance & Purge
When holding down the basic attack, Trigger enters Sniper Stance. In this stance, each successful hit on an enemy accumulates Purge, represented by the bar beneath his avatar. Each sniper shot grants 25 Purge, with a maximum capacity of 100 Purge—meaning Trigger can fully charge his Purge gauge after landing four sniper shots. Upon releasing the basic attack after four shots, he delivers a finishing strike, activates the Quick Assist of the previously deployed teammate (allowing them to enter the field for Stun), and then returns to the off-field position.

Trigger’s off-field Follow-Up Attacks
While off-field, Trigger supports the active on-field character by executing Follow-up Attacks (FuA). When the on-field character lands a Basic Attack, Dash Attack, Dodge Counter, Ex Special, or Quick Assist, Trigger performs a standard Follow-up Attack from off-field. These standard FuAs deal relatively low damage and Daze value, consume 3 Purge per activation, and are limited to once every 3 seconds.

When the on-field character uses abilities like Ex Special Skill, Assist Follow-Up, or Ultimate, Trigger executes an enhanced Follow-up Attack. These enhanced FuAs deal significantly higher damage and Daze value, consume 5 Purge per activation, and are restricted to twice every 20 seconds.

Additionally, Trigger can unleash Follow-up Attacks without consuming Purge under specific conditions. After casting his Ex Special Skill or Ultimate, he triggers the previous teammate’s Quick Assist and enters Coordinated Support mode. In this mode, his FuAs maintain the same damage and Daze values as standard FuAs but without consuming Purge and 3s cooldown. The Ex Special Skill grants 4 FuA charges, while the Ultimate provides 6 charges, with a maximum stack limit of 10 charges. The status of these charges is visually indicated by the color of the Purge bar—yellow when charges remain and blue when depleted. Once exhausted, Trigger must be swapped back in to replenish charges by using his Ex Special Skill or Ultimate again.

Trigger’s Core Passives
Trigger’s first core passive delivers two effects: First, whenever Trigger’s Follow-up Attack hits an enemy, the target’s Stun DMG Multiplier increases by 35% for 5 seconds. This elevates the default 150% multiplier during Stun to 185%. Second, this 35% damage boost remains active even if the enemy isn’t in a Stunned state.

The second core passive activates when the party includes an Attack or Electric teammate. For every 1% Critical Rate above 40% of Trigger, her Follow-up Attacks gain 1.5% additional Daze value, up to a maximum of 75% (at 90% Critical Rate). Maximizing Trigger’s Critical Rate is essential to optimize this passive.

Trigger (ZZZ) Key Mindscapes

Trigger (ZZZ)’s Mindscapes Comparison

The percentage indicates the performance of the Mindscape in Damage boost to whole team.

M1
The core passive’s Stun DMG multiplier receives an additional 20% increase, while the FuA trigger cooldown is reduced to 2 seconds. Additionally, Purge acquisition rate is increased by 25%, and the maximum Purge capacity is raised to 125 points.
M1 provides approximately a 11% damage increase for the entire team.

M2
When performing a Follow-up AttackTrigger gains 1 stack of Huntering Gaze. When executing a Finishing Move in Sniper StanceTrigger gains 2 stacks of Huntering Gaze. Each stack of Huntering Gaze increases the entire team’s Critical DMG by 6%, stacking up to 4 times (max 24% Critical DMG) for 10 seconds. This effect applies to the whole party.
M2 boosts Trigger’s personal damage by 12% and team damage by ~7.5%.

M4
Trigger’s skills now extend the duration of Coordinated Support Mode. When other party members trigger Trigger’s FuA, it deals damage equal to 200% of Trigger’s ATK and accumulates Daze equal to 120% of Trigger’s Impact.
Trigger’s personal damage increases by 5%, and team damage by 0.6%.

M6
For every 25 Purge consumed, Trigger gains 1 Bullet (max 5 Bullets). While in Sniper Stance, hitting an enemy with Bullets active triggers a burst damage instance.
Assuming 5 rounds are spent in one rotation, her personal damage increases by 74%, and team damage by 9.2%.

M3/M5
Trigger’s personal damage by 9.1% (M3) and 7.9% (M5), but teamwide damage gains are marginal (0.6%~0.8%).Assuming 5 rounds are reases by 74%, and team damage by 9.%

Trigger (ZZZ) Best W-Engine

The percentage indicates the performance of the W-engine in Damage boost (% at left) and Stun Efficiency (% at right).

Trigger’s signature W-engineSpectral Gaze” has a secondary attribute of 24% critical rate. It is the only Stun-type W-engine with a critical rate substat, which helps Trigger better maximize her core passive.

The effect of “Spectral Gaze” is: When the equipped character triggers a follow-up attack and hits an enemy, dealing Electric damage, it reduces the target’s defense by 25% for 5 seconds. This means the signature engine also provides a damage buff capability for the entire team.

Moreover, when this effect triggers while the character is not on field, the equipped character gains one stack of a buff (up to three stacks maximum). Each stack increases the character’s Impact by 4% for 12 seconds, and when the buff stacks reach maximum, it provides an additional 8% Impact boost. Trigger can also activate the effect of Qingyi’s signature weapon “Ice-Jade Teapot,” which increases all damage dealt by the entire team by 20%.

Sub Stats

There are two possible approaches for Drive Disc. The first approach is damage-oriented by using a 4-pc “Shadow Harmony” set. If you find your critical rate lacking, you can pair it with a 2-pc “Woodpecker” set. Achieving 90% critical rate can be somewhat challenging to stack through substats alone. For main stats, you’ll want to use critical rate in slot 4, electric damage bonus in slot 5, and attack% in slot 6. This setup takes advantage of the critical damage buffs provided by Soldier 0 – Anby, allowing Trigger to function effectively as a Sub DPS.

The second approach is stun-oriented, by utilizing a traditional 4-pc “Shockstar Disco” set, positioning Trigger in a more conventional role as a Stun unit. With this build, you’ll still want critical rate percentage in slot 4 and electric damage bonus percentage in slot 5, but slot 6 should use impact instead.

When prioritizing substats, critical rate should be your top priority, followed by critical damage, and then ATK% as your third priority. This setup emphasizes Trigger’s ability to contribute to breaking enemy defenses while still maintaining some damage potential.

Trigger (ZZZ) Team

Trigger (ZZZ) Best Teams

Bangboo

Currently, the most suitable on-field main DPS for Trigger is Soldier 0 – Anby. Both Trigger and Anby are Follow-up Attack (FuA) type characters, and their mechanics synergize perfectly. Adding Astra Yao forms the strongest version of the current FuA team. If Astra Yao is unavailable, Caesar can be a substitution. If neither Astra Yao nor Caesar is available, substitutes like Lucy, Rina can also be options.

Bangboo

Can Trigger pair with an on-field Stun unit for dual-Stun strategies? The answer is yes. For example, Qingyi + Trigger can achieve ultra-fast Stun breaks—so fast that Qingyi sometimes can’t fully stack her core passive. While their burst damage during Stun windows may not match that of a single Stun unit + Support, their break speed is exceptional and may excel in specific scenarios.

Bangboo

Trigger also has high compatibility when on-field Attack DPS, like Ellen. For example, when supporting Ellen, a team with R0M1 Trigger performs just as well as a comparable team with Lighter.

When supporting an on-field non-Attack-type Character, note that the team must include another Electric character; otherwise, Trigger’s second core passive won’t activate. For example, Trigger can enter team of Miyabi and Yanagi. She can replace Astra Yao at R0M1 without significantly affecting team strength. However, if Trigger is only R0M0, replacing Astra Yao isn’t recommended, as her signature weapon’s damage boost is excellent.

Bangboo

Like Ellen team, Soldier 11 is another on-field Attack character who is very compatible with Trigger.
