Miyabi (ZZZ) Overview

Miyabi (ZZZ) is one of the Frost characters with role. Miyabi (ZZZ) is one of the S Rank characters in Zenless Zone Zero.

Miyabi Build (ZZZ) is included in this guide, you can jump to Miyabi Build (ZZZ) Here.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Mechanism

Miyabi’s element is Frost, a new attribute similar in nature to the Ice attribute, with an independent Anomaly build-up bar. The Frost attribute functions almost identically to Ice, with the same build-up multiplier of 1.0. When Frost’s build-up is full, it triggers its own Anomaly effect, which can combine with other element anomalies, including Ice, to trigger Disorder. However, the Disorder damage caused by Frost anomalies has higher damage multipliers and base values compared to Ice.

The most synergistic part of Miyabi’s skill set is her core passive, which has the following effects:

  1. Frost damage inflicted by Miyabi applies the Icefire debuff to enemies. Icefire converts 100% of Miyabi’s Crit Rate into Frost build-up rate, up to a maximum of 80%.
  2. If a Frost anomaly is triggered on a target affected by Icefire, it deals direct damage called Frostburn-Break and replaces the Icefire debuff with Frostburn. Frostburn persists until the Frost anomaly ends or is replaced by another anomaly effect. Frostburn increases the anomaly build-up rate for the entire team by 20%.
  3. In addition to dealing direct damage, Frostburn-Break grants 1 Fallen Frost (FF), which is Miyabi’s special resource.

Miyabi can store up to 6 FF, displayed below her health bar. Fallen Frosts can be obtained through the following methods:

  1. Frostburn-Break: Grants 1 FFs.
  2. Ex-Special Skill: Grants 2 FFs per activation.
  3. Disorder triggered by any character: Grants 2 FFs.
  4. Ultimate Skill: Grants 3 FFs.

The sole purpose of Fallen Frosts is to power Miyabi’s charged Basic Attack. Miyabi’s charged Basic Attack has extremely high damage. Without using her Ultimate, it can account for more than 60% of her total damage output, making it her primary damage-dealing ability. Miyabi’s charged Basic Attack has three charge levels, with each level consuming two FFs. As the charge level increases, the damage multiplier scales exponentially, reaching levels equivalent to the Ultimates of many Attack-type characters. Additionally, Miyabi is invincible while charging, so there’s no risk of being interrupted by enemy attacks.

Apart from her charged Basic Attack, Miyabi’s Basic Attack is also important. Although Basic Attacks don’t have special effects or high multipliers, they are extremely fast and easy to combo into. Basic Attacks serve as Miyabi’s primary filler skill, consisting of five hits: the first two deal physical damage, while the last three deal Frost damage. A full Basic Attack combo takes only about 3 seconds, making Miyabi one of the fastest Basic Attack users in the game. Furthermore, after using her Ex-Special, charged Basic Attack, or Perfect Dodge, Miyabi can directly start from the third Basic Attack, significantly improving her rotation fluidity.

Miyabi’s Ex-Special Skill has two stages, each costing 40 energy. After activating the first stage, a second press triggers the follow-up stage. Each stage of the Ex-Special grants 2 FFs. The Ex-Special itself doesn’t have particularly high damage multipliers, but its anomaly build-up value is significant, making it a good burst skill for triggering anomalies and managing FFs. In practice, the Ex-Special is primarily used during Miyabi’s burst windows to quickly collect 6 FFs.

Another key skill for acquiring FF is Miyabi’s Ultimate, which grants 3 FFs and provides a 30% Ice DMG bonus for 12 seconds.

Finally, let’s look at Miyabi’s team passive. Miyabi’s team passive boosts her charged Basic Attack damage by 60% and grants her 2 FFs whenever Disorder is triggered by the team. Additionally, every Disorder trigger causes Miyabi’s next charged Basic Attack to ignore 30% of the target’s Ice RES. The damage boost from the team passive is very significant. The 30% Ice RES ignore alone increases single-instance damage by at least 20%. However, the activation conditions for Miyabi’s team passive are fairly strict, requiring either a Support character or a same-faction teammate to trigger it.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Core Passive

When Hoshimi Miyabi deals Frost DMG, she applies Icefire to the target, lasting 30s. When accumulating Frost Anomaly Buildup against targets with Icefire, increases Frost Anomaly Buildup Rate by 100% of Hoshimi Miyabi’s CRIT Rate, up to a maximum increase of 80%. As Hoshimi Miyabi accumulates Frost Anomaly Buildup, it has its own independent Attribute Anomaly Buildup gauge and triggers Freeze, Shatter, and Frostbite that can react with other Attribute Anomalies, including Ice Attribute Anomaly, to trigger Disorder.
When Hoshimi Miyabi applies Frostbite to enemies with Icefire, it will consume the Icefire to trigger Frostburn – Break, dealing Frost DMG equal to 750%/875%/1000%/1125%/1250%/1375%/1,500% of Hoshimi Miyabi’s ATK and causing the target to enter the Frostburn state. All squad members accumulate 14%/15%/16%/17%/18%/19%/20% more Anomaly Buildup against enemies under the Frostburn state, but Hoshimi Miyabi cannot reapply Icefire to these enemies. The Frostburn state ends when Frostbite expires. While this state remains active, triggering another Attribute Anomaly will overwrite Frostbite and remove Frostburn.
Upon triggering Frostburn – Break, Hoshimi Miyabi obtains 1 point of Fallen Frost. This effect can trigger once every 10s.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Key Mindscapes

Miyabi (ZZZ)’s Mindscapes Comparison

The percentage indicates the performance of the Mindscapes in Damage Boost.

M1

  • M1 provides a 10.5% damage boost.
  • Mechanically, M1 primarily enhances Miyabi’s fully charged enhanced Basic Attack, allowing it to gain a defense-ignoring buff based on the number of Fallen Frosts consumed. Each stack grants 6% defense ignore, up to a maximum of 6 stacks.
  • Additionally, a fully charged enhanced Basic Attack removes the Frostburn effect from enemies and increases the Anomaly Build-up Rate for the entire team by 20%.
  • First Effect: Provides direct damage boost.
  • Second Effect: While it removes the debuff aspect of Frostburn, it retains the buff benefit, seemingly doubling the trigger rate for Frostburn-Break. However, the actual performance boost is limited. This effect is not useful for a Disorder team Miyabi but only benefits Miyabi as a single DPS.
  • Note that Frostburn-Break has an internal cooldown of 10 seconds, so the second effect’s impact is not significant in performance.

M2

  • M2 increases Kazahana’s damage by 30%, causes the fifth Basic Attack to restore 1 Fallen Frost, and grants Miyabi full Fallen Frosts at the start of the battle, along with a permanent 15% Crit Rate buff.
  • M2 provides both a numerical boost and a mechanical optimization, delivering a total damage boost of 42.9%.
  • The biggest improvement from M2 is the A5 restoring Fallen Frost, which ensures smoother rotations by consistently providing the key Fallen Frost required for Miyabi’s combos. This greatly improves her overall battle flow and enhances her burst stability.
  • The permanent 15% Crit Rate allows Miyabi to allocate resources into stats other than Crit Rate. Before unlocking M2, Miyabi needs 80% Crit Rate on her panel to fully activate her core passive, which can be difficult to achieve without her Signature W-engine. With M2, her build cost is significantly reduced.

M4

  • M4 increases Frostburn-Break damage by 30% and grants an additional 250 Decibels when triggered.
  • While the Decibel provision is valuable, the amount provided is small, resulting in a limited overall performance boost of 6.2%.
This makes M4 a mediocre upgrade, with its main value lying in Decibel generation, though its impact is relatively minor.

M6

  • M6 increases the damage of fully charged enhanced Basic Attacks by 30%.
  • Additionally, during the charging process, Miyabi automatically releases 1 to 2 extra enhanced Basic Attacks, depending on her current charge level. This does not interrupt the charging progress.
  • M6 is a pure numerical upgrade, with no changes to Miyabi’s playstyle.
  • Based on calculations, the damage increase from M6 is significant, reaching a total boost of 73.5%.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Best W-Engine

The percentage indicates the performance of the W-engine in Damage Boost.

Miyabi should prioritize her Signature W-engine, as it provides high Crit Rate, 50% Crit DMG, and up to 40% Ice DMG Bonus. Its damage output significantly surpasses other W-engines. Even when using other Attack-type W-engines, the damage output only reaches 70% of the Signature W-engine’s performance. Other equipment, such as the Fusion Compiler, can serve as substitutes, but their overall performance falls short of the Signature W-engine.

Additionally, 4-star W-engines have mediocre performance. Therefore, without the Signature W-engine, Miyabi’s performance will drop significantly.

Sub Stats

Although Miyabi’s skill mechanics rely on Crit Rate, the scaling benefits of Crit Rate and Crit DMG are not outstanding. The initial stacking of Crit-related stats yields low returns, with higher scaling benefits becoming apparent as the total number of substats increases. On the other hand, ATK% and DMG Bonus provide higher initial returns, but the benefits diminish as substats stack. Since ATK% and DMG Bonus can be obtained from various sources, it is important to consider buffs provided by teammates and select the setup that offers the highest overall benefit.

For Drive Disc main stats, in most situations:

  • Slot 4 should prioritize Crit Rate, with a target of 80%. Once the target is reached, switch to Crit DMG.
  • Slot 5 can use ATK%, Ice DMG, or PEN Ratio, as they are nearly equal for Miyabi. It’s recommended to choose the stat based on the teammates.
    • For example, when teaming with Lucy, avoid using ATK%.
    • When teaming with Rina, avoid using PEN Ratio.
  • Slot 6 should prioritize ATK%.

For Drive Disc sub-stats, prioritize boosting Crit Rate and Crit DMG, followed by ATK% and PEN Ratio. At the same time, consider the buffs provided by teammates to optimize overall performance.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Team

Miyabi (ZZZ) Burst Teams

For a Single DPS strategy, there are three viable team setups: Qingyi & Rina, Lighter & Lucy, and Lycaon & Soukaku. While the teammates differ, the overall strategy remains the same, which is to maximize buffs and align high-burst skills within the Daze Period, aiming to finish the fight within a single Daze period. This requires precise timeline organization. However, in practice, all three setups have their own pitfall, and none stand out as ideal.

Lighter & Lucy and Lycaon & Soukaku teams typically keep Miyabi as the on-field DPS, with the Stun-type characters (Lighter or Lycaon) being switched to the field via Defensive Assist to stun enemies. This leads to Disorder timing being difficult to control, making it hard to align with the Daze Period. In the Qingyi & Rina team, although it doesn’t emphasize Disorder, Qingyi is also an on-field character, meaning Miyabi needs to come on-field before the Daze Period to prepare Fallen Frosts and ensure the burst quality during Daze. Another downside of of this team is Qingyi’s team passive can’t be triggered, which results in lower impact of Qingyi.

Overall, while the Stun-type + Support pair isn’t a flawless strategy, it offers the highest damage potential for Miyabi. A well-built Miyabi should prioritize Single DPS team setups.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Ice-Electric Disorder Team

Bangboo

Disorder-based team compositions are easier to execute compared to Single DPS setups. For the Ice-Electric Disorder Team of Miyabi + Yanagi, the third member of this team has multiple options, including Caesar, Nicole, Lucy, and Rina. The recommended priority is Rina (M1R1 or above), followed by Caesar, then Lucy. Both Rina and Nicole share the same issue: low buff coverage, requiring frequent switches to reapply buffs. This has become especially problematic for Nicole after her initial energy was nerfed, significantly reducing her performance. A unique advantage of Rina is her ability to activate her team passive through Yanagi, which increases Shock duration. This buff significantly boosts the team’s Disorder damage and is the main reason why Rina (M1R1 or above) can outperform Caesar. If you have M1R1 Rina or Caesar, prioritize these setups. If you don’t have them, use Lucy instead.

Yanagi’s EX Special also counts as a Disorder trigger, providing Miyabi with 2 Fallen Frosts, which may lead to Frost overflow (up to 4 FFs at once). Yanagi’s high damage relies on high-quality Anomaly Build-up, but Miyabi’s Anomaly Quality isn’t very high, resulting in significant damage loss for Yanagi’s Polarity Disorder. As both Yanagi and Miyabi’s builds improve, this issue will gradually diminish.

Astra Yao is the a better choice of Support in this team over Rina.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Ice-Fire Disorder Team

The Fire-Ice team pairing Miyabi with Burnice has fewer third-member options compared to the Miyabi + Yanagi team. This is because Miyabi and Burnice belong to different factions, so Miyabi’s team passive needs to be activated by a third member. A reasonable choice for the third member is Lucy. This team has the deepest mechanics among all of Miyabi’s setups. To ensure perfect synergy between Miyabi and Burnice during Disorder, without wasting Miyabi’s Frost build-up, detailed planning of Burnice’s early-stage Anomaly accumulation is required. This ensures that Burnice has the right amount of Fire Anomaly stored before her off-field period. Even without achieving Polarity Disorder frequencies, this team has a high performance ceiling, making it consistent and reliable.

Due to Miyabi’s inherently high base stats, other non-traditional pairings are also worth exploring. For instance, Piper can be a strong option: if Piper can maintain her core passive uninterrupted during two rotations, the Piper-Miyabi pairing can guarantee two consecutive Disorder triggers in the second rotation, making it highly competitive.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Ice-Physical Disorder Team

Due to Miyabi’s inherently high base stats, other non-traditional pairings are also worth exploring. For instance, Piper can be a strong option: if Piper can maintain her core passive uninterrupted during two rotations, the Piper-Miyabi pairing can guarantee two consecutive Disorder triggers in the second rotation, making it highly competitive.

Miyabi (ZZZ) Single Core Team

Due to Miyabi’s inherently high base stats, other non-traditional pairings are also worth exploring. For instance, Piper can be a strong option: if Piper can maintain her core passive uninterrupted during two rotations, the Piper-Miyabi pairing can guarantee two consecutive Disorder triggers in the second rotation, making it highly competitive.
