Lighter (ZZZ) Overview

Lighter (ZZZ) is one of the Fire characters with role. Lighter (ZZZ) is one of the S Rank characters in Zenless Zone Zero.

Lighter (ZZZ) Mechanism

Basic Attack Mechanic: Jab Combo and Morale Burst
Lighter’s basic attacks consist of 5 stages, with the 5th stage Jab Combo being his core damage-dealing mechanic.

  • The first 4 stages are regular attacks, while the 5th stage is a Jab Combo that deals multiple hits.
  • During the 5th stage Jab Combo, Lighter enters a special state, reducing incoming damage by 40%.

 

Morale Burst Enhancement

  • When the Morale Bar exceeds 80 points, the 5th stage Jab Combo enters the Morale Burst state, significantly enhancing its output.
  • During Morale Burst, each Jab Combo consumes Morale until the Morale Bar is depleted or the combo ends.
  • Enhancements During Morale Burst:
    1. Damage Reduction Boost: During the Jab Combo, damage reduction increases from 40% to 80%.
    2. Damage and Daze Multiplier Increase: The damage and Daze multiplier of the 5th stage Jab Combo are significantly increased.
    3. Impact Boost: For every 1 point of Morale consumed, Lighter’s Impact increases by 0.2%, up to a maximum of 20% (lasting 6 seconds).
    4. Enemy Resistance Reduction: Hitting enemies reduces their Ice Resistance and Fire Resistance by 15%, lasting 30 seconds.
    5. Collapse Effect: The final hit of the Jab Combo increases the duration of the enemy’s next Daze state by 3 seconds.

 

Team Passive – Fighting Spirit

  • Each successful Jab Combo hit adds 1 stack of Elation (up to a maximum of 20 stacks, lasting 30 seconds).
  • Each stack increases the entire team’s Fire DMG and Ice DMG by 1.25%.
  • If Lighter’s Impact exceeds 170 points, for every additional 10 points, the Elation damage boost increases by an extra 0.25%. The maximum Elation damage boost is 75%.

Lighter (ZZZ) Basic Attack

Press or hold Basic Attack to activate:
Perform up to five forward strikes, dealing Physical DMG and Fire DMG.
During the 3rd hit of the Basic Attack, drag the stick/joystick, and repeatedly press or hold Basic Attack to unleash a series of melee follow-up attacks. DMG taken during the skill is reduced by 40%. Release the stick/joystick to follow up with the 4th hit of the Basic Attack.
While performing the 5th hit of the Basic Attack, Lighter can keep the attack button pressed to unleash a Finishing Move, dealing massive Fire DMG. During the Finishing Move, Lighter is invulnerable.
When the attack button is released or when the skill duration ends, Lighter will unleash a follow-up attack, dealing massive Fire DMG.
During the 5th hit of the Basic Attack, Lighter takes 40% less DMG.
When [Morale Burst] is active, the 5th hit of the Basic Attack will also trigger [Morale Burst] and increase the damage dealt by Lighter. The damage increase is equal to the damage reduction effect of [Morale Burst].

Lighter (ZZZ) Core Passive

Lighter automatically gains Morale over time, at a rate of 2.9 points per second. For each point of Energy consumed by any squad member, Lighter recovers an additional 0.26 Morale, up to a maximum of 100. When Morale reaches 80, the next time Lighter switches into battle he immediately launches a Quick Assist. Once Morale exceeds 80, executing the 5th hit of his Basic Attack puts Lighter in the Morale Burst state, enhancing the power of the startup light punch, jab combo, and the Finishing Move of the 5th hit of his Basic Attack. When a skill hits an enemy with its power increased, it will continuously consume Morale. With every 10 points of Morale consumed, Lighter’s Impact increases by 1%/1.17%/1.33%/1.5%/1.67%/1.83%/2%, up to a maximum increase of 10%/11.7%/13.3%/15%/16.7%/18.3%/20%, and lasting 6s. In the Morale Burst state, Lighter will no longer automatically gain Morale over time. If his Morale is exhausted during a startup light punch or jab combo, he will automatically follow up with a more powerful Finishing Move. In the Morale Burst state, when startup light punches or jab combos hit enemies, the target’s Ice RES and Fire RES are reduced by 15%, lasting 30s. In the Morale Burst state, when the Finishing Move hits an enemy, it applies the Collapse effect on the target, extending its Stunned duration by 3s. The Collapse effect can trigger only once on the same target before they recover from Stun. When the Finishing Move of the 5th hit of his Basic Attack hits an enemy, when he switches off field, or when his Morale runs out, Lighter will leave the Morale Burst state, keeping any unspent Morale.

When another character in your squad is an Attack character or shares the same Faction: When Morale is at Max, Lighter’s Basic Attack (including Special Attack and Chain Attack) that hits an enemy will generate a stack of Elation for all squad members. Elation increases the Agent’s Ice DMG and Fire DMG by 0.96%. When Morale is at Max, Lighter’s Basic Attack (including Special Attack and Chain Attack) that hits an enemy will generate a stack of Soldier’s Resolve for all squad members. Soldier’s Resolve increases the Agent’s Ice DMG and Fire DMG by 60%. Soldier’s Resolve stacks up to 5 times. Elation stacks up to 5 times. M1 – Extends Daze duration by 2s (from 3s to 5s). Adds 10% resistance reduction for Ice/Fire.
M2 – Maximum Ice/Fire damage boost raised from 75% to 90%.
M4 – Grants 10% energy recovery for on-field characters. Provides 4 energy to off-field character when Lighter enter Morale Burst state.
M6 – Doubles Morale recovery speed. Deal extra Fire damage when using various skills, scaling with Impact.

Pulling Recommendations:

Lighter (ZZZ) Best W-Engine

The percentage indicates the performance of the W-engine in Damage Boost to teammates.(The simulation of damage boost is to Ellen.)

Lighter’s W-engine selection prioritizes his signature W-engine, Blazing Laurel, followed by Qingyi’s signature W-engine, Ice-Jade Teapot, and then any W-engine that provides high Impact. For example, Koleda’s signature W-engine, Hellfire Gear, and Lycaon’s signature W-engine can both improve Lighter’s Stun Efficiency, but Koleda’s W-engine achieves this by increasing Impact, while Lycaon’s W-engine only boosts Stun Efficiency without increasing Impact. Therefore, Koleda’s W-engine is more suitable for Lighter.

Even the four-star W-engine, Steam Oven, which provides higher Impact than Lycaon’s signature W-engine, is a better choice for Lighter. This is because Lighter’s team passive, Fighting Spirit, which provides a Fire Damage and Ice Damage boost to the entire team, is directly tied to his Impact.

To fully achieve the 75% boost potential, only three W-engines can accomplish this: Blazing Laurel, Ice-Jade Teapot, and Hellfire Gear. All other W-engines fail to reach the maximum boost threshold. Therefore, when building Lighter, it is crucial to prioritize these three W-engines to maximize his damage output and team boost potential.

For a 2-pc set, if you want to focus on a damage build, you can go with Inferno or Woodpecker. However, since Lighter’s Morale relies on energy recovery, choosing Swing Jazz is also a viable option.

Main Stats

  • Slot 6: Must use Impact.
  • Slot 5: Use Fire DMG.
  • Slot 4: Flexible, choose either Crit Rate + Crit DMG or ATK% depending on your build.

Sub Stats
Flexible as well. If you want to enhance damage, prioritize Crit Rate, Crit DMG, or ATK%.

Lighter (ZZZ) Team

Lighter (ZZZ) Ice Team

From the perspective of damage boost, Lighter is definitely superior to Lycaon in a team where Ellen is the Main DPS.

The bonus Lycaon provides to Ellen is only 91.15% of what Lighter offers. This does not even take into account Lighter’s 3-second Daze time bonus. During non-Daze periods, Lycaon does not provide a Daze damage increase, making the difference even more pronounced.

The other team replaces Koleda with Lighter, forming a Fire Team with Solider 11 as the Main DPS.
